The American Pontiac Association was founded in late 1979 by Kirk Robinson, Mike Anawaty, and Ken Moreno of Houston. Originally known as the South Texas Pontiac Club, its function is to cater to Pontiac enthusiasts and aid in the restoration,preservation, and appreciation of Pontiac automobiles.

The club is non-profit and family oriented. A.P.A. club activities include monthly meetings, monthly “cruise” nights, joint participation in activities of other clubs, The SPRING A.P.A. car show, major involvement in the Houston Autorama, various other club activities, and an annual awards banquet.
